Adventure Fuels Weekends at Fessenden
Set on a beautiful 41-acre campus, students at our boys boarding school live just minutes from Boston and take advantage of world-class museums, historical sites, concerts, theater productions, restaurants, shopping, sporting events, and more.
As a boarding school in New England, Fessenden’s location provides boys easy access to the mountains and lakes of Vermont and New Hampshire or the beaches of Cape Cod and the Islands. In addition to opportunities to explore the world around Fessenden, the weekend program offers our boys a variety of activities on and around campus to stay active and engaged with their teachers and friends.
There are 42 residential faculty and staff members living on campus, providing our boys with limitless opportunities to interact and connect with caring adults. They plan, host, and chaperone all of the weekend’s activities, allowing our boys to see their teachers in a different light outside the classroom.
Craft Your Own Weekend
at Our Boys Boarding School
With 20-25 trips and activities offered each weekend, there is something for everyone.
Arguably, Fessenden’s weekend program is one of the best in the country. Boys have the opportunity to craft their own weekend activities based on their interests, and when the weekend’s options are posted every Tuesday, boys get together with their classmates to determine which trips and activities they want to do.
Boston is one of the most culturally rich cities in the country, and our boys take advantage of a wide variety of fun learning opportunities. When weekend activities extend our classrooms beyond campus, learning can look like this: cheering on their math teacher along the Boston Marathon route, walking the Freedom Trail and grabbing a cannoli along the way, watching a robotics competition at MIT, experiencing the Museum of African American History, engaging at the interactive Blue Man Group performance, exploring the latest exhibit at the Museum of Science, or taking in a game at Fenway Park.
Weekends are filled with fun at Fessenden, and parents will be glad to know that not only are their boys having fun, but they are learning and using their decision-making and time-management skills. For example, if they know they’ll have a busy Saturday with activities around Boston, they may choose to stay close to campus on Sunday to study, relax, and prepare for the week ahead. Most importantly, boys are connecting with their peers and learning to be active members of their communities, on and off campus.

Follow Their Fun
At the beginning of each year, we offer parents the option to have their son’s photo taken for Vidigami, our private and secure photo management system. When Fessenden faculty take photos of the boys during a weekend trip or activity, Vidigami will send parents an alert to view the photo. This allows parents all over the world to see what their Fessenden student is up to—and how much fun he’s having!
